Paper++ will develop and assess innovative
concepts and systems aimed at enriching the use of paper in everyday settings;
the home; the classroom and other public spaces. In particular, the project
will:
-
identify the needs of children and students, as well as
content providers, for using devices to enhance the paper/digital
interface;
-
provide candidate solutions designed to allow children
and students as well as content providers to enhance their use of paper;
-
create enhanced paper products coupled with devices which can
be used to retrieve and display digital materials and create new associations
between paper and digital documents.
The project therefore is concerned with how the
design and development of artifacts can be sensitive to practical circumstances
and activities of children and students, and in demonstrating and evaluating
solutions which both resonate with, and enhance everyday activities and use of
seemingly mundane tools and technologies. The programme of work is concerned
with engaging people, practice and everyday activities and augmenting and
enhancing their everyday resources.
