Check your assets

Do you think that you are only prepared for higher education if you have successfully completed an advanced course such as Access, AGNVQ, BTEC National or A Level?

Not necessarily!

If you have five or more GCSEs or GCEs, including English and preferably Mathematics and Biology, then you could apply for a course in nursing at a variety of universities

However, to be successful on any course of study, you will need additional assets.

Check your assets below by selecting the skills and qualities that apply to you. Do you?

work in the caring field
have the determination to finish what you have started even when dealing with difficult tasks
keep to tight deadlines

use a computer fairly confidently

find information from a library or the Internet without help

regularly read quality newspapers, journals and novels

have recent experience of writing reports, essays or other types of complex texts

have confidence in arguing your point of view and using your own words when writing

know what makes you stressed and how to deal with your own anxieties

Select statements

The more statements you select, the better prepared you are to study at a University

If you have selected fewer than three statements, then you may need more preparation time at a Further Education College
