LAGB 2007 accommodation
Affordable accommodation will be available at the Stamford Street Apartments, directly across the road from the conference venue. Here is a streetmap of the area. The Stamford Street Apartments is a modern purpose built student residence with 537 *single* ensuite bedrooms (small fridge in every room) sharing a communal kitchen suitable for preparing drinks and light snacks (please note that whilst access to the kitchens is permitted, guests must provide their own crockery, cutlery and utensils). Tea and coffee are available in the kitchen areas on each floor, and the gym can be used for a small charge. There are laundry facilities on site as well. There is no internet access or private phones (there are common phones to call other residence floors), but there are internet cafes in the area.
Breakfast
The B&B breakfast meal will be served from 7am-9am in the dining hall on the first floor of the Franklin-Wilkins Building where the conference is taking place.
Checking in:
The Stamford Street Apartments are located along Stamford Street, 2 minutes from Waterloo Station and across the road from the conference venue, Franklin Wilkins Building.
There is a Residence Office inside the Stamford Street Apartments (weekdays 8am-7pm; weekends 8am-5pm). You can check in at the Residence Office. If you arrive after it has closed, you can check in at the security desk as you enter (as this is central London university accommodation, the entrance is locked after hours but there is a buzzer to enter and you will receive a swipecard to enter the building once you've checked in).
Check-in time is 2pm. If you arrive earlier, you can drop off your bags with security but may not have access to your room until 2pm. (If you are arriving on Wednesday, we have requested that you be allowed to check in between 12pm-2pm). When you check in you will receive a swipe card for access to the buildings and a key for your room.
For further information please contact Devyani Sharma or Eleni Gregoromichelaki.
Alternative accommodation can be booked by contacting directly nearby hotels (bear in mind though that in Central London prices are normally quite high starting from around £70 per night, try also the two budget booking sites suggested at the bottom of the nearby hotels page).
