MSc Aquatic Resource Management

The course is designed for those looking for
vocational employment or research opportunities in the broad field of
aquatic resources, their development, conservation, regulation and
management. Typically, these opportunities are to be found within the
Environment Agencies, other environmental agencies, environmental
consultancies, the water utilities and universities At the same time the
course provides intellectual stimulation and the opportunity to change
direction from previous studies. The course is based in the Life Sciences Division of King’s College London, a centre of excellence in postgraduate training.

Through close links with both the University Marine Biological Station at Millport in Scotland and the UK water industry, the course is able to draw on a unique mix of freshwater, estuarine and marine expertise. This is used to develop: l core scientific, technical and interdisciplinary skills for key areas of aquatic resource management and research, from the collection and quantitative analysis of field and laboratory data to the processes of project design, policy development and decision making; l transferable communication
and interpersonal skills from practice in the design, execution and
reporting of individual and team activities; l an awareness of current and emerging environmental issues from a close interface throughout the course with outside scientists and organisations active in the aquatic management and research arenas.
