Profile
Jean-Pierre started his PhD with the School of Law in October 2010. He has been awarded an LLB and LLD as well as a Magister Juris (distinction) from the University of Malta. He is also the founder and director of The People for Change Foundation, where his work involved mainly research, advocacy and capacity building on migration, integration, asylum, human trafficking and anti-racism. He has carried out extensive research regarding the various facets of migration in Malta and has also served as consultant to the international organization for migration as well as a number of other entities in Malta and beyond. He is a member of the national training team on human trafficking and has also acted as Malta’s representative on the European integration Forum.
Research
Working under the supervision of Prof. Satvinder Juss, he is researching the inter-relations between human trafficking and asylum and specifically whether, and the conditions under which, asylum offers an alternative or better means for the protection of trafficking persons. His working title is: Protecting Victims of Trafficking beyond collaboration the asylum claims of trafficked persons.
