The Foyle Special Collections Library houses some 180,000 printed works, as well as maps, slides, sound recordings and manuscript material. Its collections, built up over centuries by purchase, gift and bequest, contain incunabula, many unique items and cover all subject areas, but particular strengths are summarised below.
Please note that the Foyle Special Collections Library is currently taking part in the UK Medical Heritage Library digitisation project.
This means that from February 2015 for a period of approximately six months, some books from our 19th century medical collections will be temporarily unavailable for consultation. Please contact us in advance of your visit for further information.
