Liaison and Training

Sonya Lipczynska

Library Liaison Manager (Induction & Training)

About Me

I've worked in libraries since the age of 17 when I started as a Saturday assistant, and became a qualified librarian in 2001.  Since then I've worked at the Institute of Psychiatry as User Education Librarian, before joining the health Information Specialist team at Guy's campus to support the Dental Institute and the Department of Physiotherapy.

I provided support and training for staff and students, including answering quick questions via email and leading scheduled training sessions for students on how to search databases, how to reference and avoid plagiarism, how to use Turnitin and how to use bibliographic software.

I have now taken up the role of Library Liaison Manager for the Faculty of Life Sciences.  In this capacity, I attend student-staff liaison committees and other academic committees to provide library updates and listen to any comments or concerns from the Schools.  I also work to ensure that our staff and students have access to relevant resources and training materials in a variety of media.

In 2013 I was awarded the Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice in Higher Education with the King's Learning Institute.  I am currently studying for the Diploma.
