Training - NHS staff
Library Services provide free training for KCH and GSTFT staff on searching and appraising evidence based resources on the Internet and healthcare databases.
All our courses can be arranged upon request at your workplace or at King’s College London training rooms, either as group or one-to-one sessions (except for critical appraisal sessions which are only available for groups).

Introduction to healthcare databases - course outline
A hands-on introduction to searching MEDLINE, CINAHL and other NHS resources to find journal article references, including planning your search.
This course is currently available on request.
Introduction to critical appraisal - course outline
Learn about the different levels of evidence and find out about resources available to help you to critically appraise a piece of research. Includes group discussion of an article.
This course is currently available on request as a group session.
We also run critical appraisal courses as part of the
BRC research methods training programme which will be re-run Autumn 2012.
Enhancing information skills for systematic reviews - course outline
Practical advice and support on effective information retrieval for systematic reviews, including planning a search, key sources of information, and managing and documenting results. Attendees should have experience of database searching, as this course focuses on the additional skills needs to conduct systematic reviews. Please see course above for an introduction to database searching.
