Professor receives CBE in Queen's Birthday Honours list

Posted on 24/06/2013
Professor Tony Rudd

Professor of Stroke Medicine and National Clinical Director for Stroke, Tony Rudd has been awarded a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in recognition of his services to Stroke Medicine.

As part of the Stroke Research Group within the Division of Health and Social Care Research, Professor Rudd has been involved in research on stroke epidemiology, the natural history of stroke complications, early supported discharge and quality improvement in stroke nationally and internationally.

Professor Rudd said: "I am delighted to have been given a CBE. There is a tinge of guilt because so much of what I am credited with achieving has been due to the work of fantastic colleagues over the years to whom I am very grateful."

Professor Rudd is no stranger to prestigious awards, having received a BMJ Award for Improvement in Patient Safety in connection with a new model for acute stroke services in June 2012.
