The Division of Health & Social Care offers a range of consultancy services including the NIHR Research Design Service (RDS) London and the BRC-funded Research Consultancy Service (RCS). Both services underpin the Division’s aims of promoting world-leading research, developing partnerships and translational research.

Research Design Service (RDS) London

NHS researchers or those working in partnership with the NHS in London who are aiming to submit a funding application

Advice and guidance on the design of applied health and social care research


Request support at least 6-8 weeks before a submission deadline, minimum 4 weeks

Statistical Consultancy Service

Researchers and students in the BRC, GSTT, KCH, KCL 

Design and sample size issues, data analysis advice, interpretation of results.

Request support at least 6-8 weeks before a grant or paper submission deadline, minimum 4 weeks



Data Management Service (DMS)

Researchers in the BRC, GSTT, KCH, KCL

Data management planning, web-based data collection, database development, statistical data management

As needed, but allow time if you have a deadline

Bola Coker

King's Clinical Trials Unit (KCTU) Investigators undertaking randomised controlled trials sponsored by non-commercial organisations wishing to collaborate with a UKCRC fully registered Clinical Trials Unit

Collaboration on randomised controlled trials in providing randomisation services, web based data entry systems, trial management support or supervision, data management support or supervision, trial statistician services.

Contact us at the grant application stage for trial management, data management or trial statistician collaborations and for randomisation or web based data entry system quotes. Request support at least 6-8 weeks before a grant submission deadline. Contact us at any time for randomisation services



National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Statistics Group Statisticians, epidemiologists or data analysts funded by an NIHR research unit or by an NIHR research grant. Provide opportunity for professional development, networking and collaboration of statisticians. Research Sections in Laboratory Studies, Imaging, Early Phase Clinical Trials and Ophthalmology.
