The OptiGut Study

The OptiGut Study is a 10-week randomised controlled trial investigating the effect of natural foods and fluids on gut health in adults.

We are currently recruiting volunteers to participate in the OptiGut Study. If you would like to volunteer please contact us on the details below. For more information please download the Participant Information Sheet and attachment below.

What kind of people are we looking for?

We are looking for healthy men and women who:

• Are aged between 18 to 65 years.

• Do not regularly eat wholegrain cereals or many fruits and vegetables.

• Open their bowels 3 to 6 times a week (less than once per day).

What will you be asked to do?

If you take part in the study we will ask you to:

• Consume a natural drink or fibre food as part of your normal diet for 4 weeks.

• Provide stool samples.

• Have your gut transit time measured by X-ray.

• Complete diaries and questionnaires about your diet, bowel habit, physical activity, and appetite.
