Biography
Image of Professor Brendan Delaney Brendan is lead for Primary Care and leads the Medical Decision Making and Informatics Research Group in the Department. Trained at Cambridge (St. John's College) and Oxford (Green College), Brendan was previously Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Reader and Professor at the University of Birmingham (1993-2009). He is Clinical Lead for the Primary Care Research Network for Greater London. His research interests have spanned a wide range of quantitative methods in Health Services Research, including meta-analysis, modelling, randomised controlled trials and interventions to decrease diagnostic error.
Over recent years his work has focussed mainly on clinical research informatics and the integration of clinical and research data and systems. In particular, Brendan is joint lead of the US-UK electronic Primary Care Research Network project and works closely with NIHR Research Capability Programme. He is co-ordinator of the TRANSFoRm project, an €7M ICT project funded by the EU, and has held grants from the NIHR HTA, Wellcome Trust, US NIH and MRC. He works two sessions a week as a partner at Albion Street Group Practice in Rotherhithe.
