Biography
Bernadette joined the Division of Medical Education at King’s in 2000 as Lecturer in Clinical Communication. She has a clinical background in adult general nursing and mental health care of older people. In her current role she has contributed to the development of the core undergraduate clinical communication curriculum and linked specialist SSCs. As lead for Phase 2 clinical communication assessment, she has developed specific sensory awareness OSCEs for hearing and visual impairment. She has facilitated on a number of post-graduate clinical communication courses and training programmes within KHP, external NHS Trusts and general practices. Bernadette has an academic background in social science and qualitative research methods. She is currently studying for a Doctorate in Education focusing on the pedagogy of clinical communication in relation to wider paradigms of clinical competency and humane medical practice.
