Learning & teaching strategy
Lead: Dr Helen Graham (School Learning & Teaching Co-ordinator)
Each School in King’s has a Learning & Teaching Co-ordinator (LTC) whose role is to liaise with the College and their School on educational issues, policies and strategies. They meet regularly with other LTCs and staff from King’s Learning Institute (KLI) in the Learning & Teaching Forum, chaired by Professor Paul Blackmore. As the School LTC, Dr Graham reports regularly to the Medical Education Committee and MBBS Executive.
The LTC is available to advise and support staff wishing to participate in the College’s professional development courses run by KLI and the College’s scheme for peer support of teaching, and staff interested in preparing and applying for educational research bids through the annual College Teaching Fund.
The School Learning & Teaching Strategy (download as Word doc - 34kb) is based on the College Learning & Teaching Strategy 2009-12, which is ongoing. It seeks to enhance the student learning experience with emphasis on the following five areas:
-
a research-rich environment
-
advanced academic literacy
-
interdisciplinarity
-
a global perspective
-
community engagement
