The Clinical Communication Unit is in the Division of Medical Education and sits in the two main simulation centres: The Chantler Clinical Skills Centre at Guy’s, and Simulation and Interactive Learning Centre (SaIL Centre) at St. Thomas’. Our team’s priority is developing, delivering and evaluating up to date, educationally sound research based teaching in clinically focused communication for medical students and practising clinicians.
Clinical communication is a core component of medical education and runs as a vertical strand throughout. Student selected components are offered in a range of perspectives and are highly rated by students. Post-graduate specialist course are designed and delivered in consultation with clinical team needs.
We work collaboratively with specialist clinical groups and related disciplines. Interprofessional Education and Training and undergraduate Medical Humanities are also part of the Unit. We are a nationally accredited centre for British Sign Language levels 1 and 2.
