Danielle Abbott wins the Giorgio Pardi Foundation President's Presenter's Award at the 2012 Society for Gynaecological Investigation 59th Annual Scientific Meeting
The Giorgio Pardi Foundation Presenter's Award recognises the four highest ranked abstracts chosen for presentation at the President's New Investigator Plenary Session. Congratulations to Dr Danielle Abbott who won the 2012 award for her plenary session: Relationship between Cervical-Vaginal Fluid Elafin Concentrations and Subsequent Cercival Shortening in Women at High Risk of Spontaneous Preterm Birth.
EarlyNutrition Grant
International researchers join forces to track the link between early nutrition and long-term health
Professor Lucilla Poston is leading the King's College London section of the multi-centre research for the EU project “EarlyNutrition” (“Long-term effects of early nutrition on later health”). The project aims at providing the scientific foundations for evidence based recommendations for optimal early nutrition that incorporate long-term health outcomes. The project will run for five years and is receiving 8,96 Mio EUR funding from the EU towards a total budget of 11,12 Mio EUR. The Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich serves as coordinator of the project’s ambitious research programme.

Teaching Trip to Somaliland

Stem cell research milestone
Stem cell scientists including Dr Dusko Illic of the Division of Women's Health at King’s College London have announced that they have submitted to the UK Stem Cell Bank (UKSCB) their first clinical grade human embryonic stem (hES) cell lines that are free from animal-derived products, known as ‘xeno-free’ stem cells.
