Endocrinology: Clinical and Molecular
The Clinical and Molecular Endocrinology Intercalated BSc programme is designed for medical students who have completed a minimum of two years of their MBBS programme. The programme is a good foundation for students who wish to specialise in endocrinology or related fields.
There are two compulsory taught modules in the programme. The module in Diabetes and Lipid Metabolism covers the metabolic and clinical aspects of this condition, as well as research techniques used in the study of diabetes and endocrinology. The module in Endocrinology covers the pituitary, reproductive endocrinology, the thyroid, calcium metabolism and metabolic bone disease, hypertension, endocrine investigation and adrenal and steroid hormones.
The programme also includes a research project, on which students initially spend one day a week, increasing to eight weeks full time at the end of the programme. King’s encourages communication between students and staff, and students will be offered the opportunity to take part in departmental research meetings.
Number of places available: 20 (open to medical students only).
