Lecture: Roads to Rajasthan

14 Nov 2011-14 Nov 2011, 16:00-18:00, K0.20, King's, Strand Campus

School / area: Arts & Humanities
Department: India Institute
Location: Strand Campus
Location map: Strand: location
Speaker: Dr Robert Anderson
Speaker institution: Simon Frazer University, Vancouver & Clare Hall, Cambridge (2011)

There is an understandably popular tendency to try to track a single thread back from the May 1974 Indian nuclear test in the Rajasthan desert, back to some 'singular' set of circumstances that put the country on an irreversible road to nuclear power and technical authority. The speaker will show that the roads to Rajasthan are many, and few of them are straight or singular.
