Discussants include:  David Alter, producer director of the film, Paul Mitchell, the series director, Brian Lapping, Chairman and Executive Producer Brook Lapping,  Professor Anatol Lieven, Department of War Studies.

The programme deals with Bush's missile defence system and Putin's offer at Heliogdamn to develop a joint missile defence system with the US - whether this was a serious proposal - or a malicious plot. Read more http://www.brooklapping.com/news.php?id=986

Questions and discussions will include:

ˇ         What could have been done to prevent the conflict or Bush's plan to put missile defence in Poland and Czech Republic?

ˇ         Whether Putin's offer at Heliogdamn to develop a joint missile defence system was a serious proposal - or a malicious plot.

ˇ         Could add should  NATO have voted to start MAP on Georgia

Norma Percy was made a fellow of the Royal Television Society in 2000, received an honorary degree from City University in 2004 and both the 2000 and the 2003 James Cameron prizes for outstanding journalism.  In 2009 Norma was awarded the Grierson Trust’s Trustee’s Award and, in 2010, the Royal Television Society's Judges' Award.

Brian Lapping is a programme-maker and historian who started his career working as a journalist on The Guardian and The Financial Times.

Anatol Lieven worked as a British journalist, mainly in the former Soviet Union and South Asia. He writes a monthly column for the Financial Times. His recent book, Pakistan: A Hard Country was selected by the Daily Telegraph as one of the '2011 Books of Year.
