'It is an honour to be awarded these prizes. My academic year at King’s was in its very own way eye-opening: as a German or European jurist, the studies at King’s enabled me to look beyond my national or even European horizon and opened the doors to a world-wide legal discourse. There is probably no better start for an early international academic career than an LLM at King’s – a law faculty, which encourages to dive into the academic profession by encouraging you to do, what academics do: read, understand, engage, create. I am particularly grateful to my dissertation supervisor Professor Takis Tridimas for his truly inspirational and challenging classes and thought-provoking guidance, which will accompany me in my research and my view on EU law.'

Dorotheos Vrahimis_180

'I am deeply honoured to have been awarded The Dickson Poon School of Law Prize for the best dissertation on the LLM in International Tax Law. Having had the privilege and opportunity to study under the guidance of Professor Jonathan Schwarz I have gained a firm understanding in international tax law and the complexities surrounding the area.  His encouragement to see things from different perspectives and explore new ideas has broadened my critical thinking and problem-solving skills.  It is an honour to say that I have graduated from King’s.

Angelica Maria Gutierrez Ramos - the best dissertation on the Master of Science in Mental Health, Ethics & Law and the best student on the Master of Science in Mental Health, Ethics & Law

Angelica Maria Gutierrez Ramos-180

'My decision to do the master’s in Mental Health, Ethics & Law was motivated in a deep desire I have to work in a field that currently remains underexplored in Colombia, my home country: the field of mental health. The master’s was an amazing opportunity to study this topic from an interdisciplinary perspective and it equipped me with numerous tools to assess and study the challenges faced by the mentally ill with a holistic approach. I consider this master’s as a turning point in my career and consequently I was very passionate about it. That is why I feel very grateful and honoured to have received both The Dickson Poon School of Law Prize for the best student and for the best dissertation on the Master of Science in Mental Health, Ethics & Law. These are a great incentive to continue in the pursuance of my professional goals and I hope they are also an opportunity to keep on building on my academic relationship with King’s'

Hannah Theresa Maria Nathrath - the best dissertation on the Master of Arts in Global Ethics & Human Values and the best student on the Master of Arts in Global Ethics & Human Values

Hannah Theresa Maria Nathrath-180

'It is a great honour to be awarded both The Dickson Poon School of Law Prize for the Best Student as well as The Dickson Poon School of Law Prize for the Best Dissertation on the Master of Arts in Global Ethics & Human Values. My time at King’s has been exceptionally thought-provoking and intellectually stimulating; it has given me an unparalleled opportunity to work with outstanding experts providing their students with brilliant academic guidance and constant encouragement to reflect on and challenge one’s own perspective. This recognition not only brings an unforgettable experience at one of the world’s top universities to a close, but it also encourages me to continue making use of the analytical skills I was equipped with in order to tackle the complex issues confronting the world we live in.'
