Sky News war correspondent Alex Crawford will be speaking at King’s on Thursday, March 29th. Alex was the first journalist into Tripoli with the rebel forces last year and was awarded the OBE in recognition of her services to journalism.
The talk coincides with the publication of Alex Crawford’s memoire Colonel Gaddafi’s Hat, which takes its title from the on-screen interview she did with one of the rebel fighters who was wearing the Libyan leader’s iconic, gold braided headgear, which he claimed to have liberated from the late dictator’s bedroom inside his Tripoli compound.
The event will take the form of an on-stage interview with Alex, conducted by Dr Richard Howells of the Department of Culture, Media and Creative Industries at King’s, which is hosting the event. Time has been set aside for questions from the audience, and the event will be of special interest to researchers and students of media, journalism, communications, world politics, international studies, contemporary history, policy, and war studies.
