Faculty of Natural & Mathematical Sciences

Christmas lectures 2013

On Wednesday 4 December from 9:30 to 13:00, the School of Natural & Mathematical Sciences will be holding its annual Christmas lectures.

The lectures will address some fun and festive questions, including:

  • The Travelling Santa Problem: An algorithm is for life, not just for Christmas
  • Cramming my Christmas stocking: the importance of shapes and packing in biology
  • Why was I late for school today?

These 15 minute lectures offer students from years 9 to 13 a light-hearted way to look at how maths effects their everyday lives.

It is also an opportunity to meet some of King's leading academics from our departments of Mathematics, Physics, Informatics, Biomedical Engineering and Chemistry.

All the lectures are free to attend and are held in the Great Hall at our Strand Campus.
