Biography
Paul Howe joined the department as a Lecturer in 1984. He became a Reader in 1989 and a Professor in 1996. He was a research associate in the Theory Division at CERN, Geneva in 1988/9 and 1996, and at LAPP, Annecy in 1995. He has held visiting professorships at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, in 1991, and at Uppsala, Sweden, in 2005. He was an EPSRC Senior Research Fellow from 2002 to 2008. Professor Howe retired in 2009 but remains active in research.
Research Interests
Howe's main area of research is the study of unified theories of the fundamental interactions, in particular supersymmetric theories, including supergravity, and String/M theory. He has published more than 150 papers.
