INTRODUCTION
A leading, research-led management department with a strong international reputation for its contribution to scholarship, teaching and practice within various fields and disciplines in the social sciences. It was ranked joint 5th of all UK Management Departments in the 2008 RAE. It has two research centres; Human Resource Management & Employment Relations, and Work, Interaction & Technology; and research groups in Accounting, Accountability & Financial Management, International Business & Marketing, and Public Services Management. A number of themes and interests pervade research across the groups including organisational analysis & HRM, healthcare, public policy, markets and accounting, technology, international comparative analysis, work and occupations, regulation and governance. In recent years, the department has expanded rapidly and now has about 50 academic staff and a postgraduate population of over 300. It offers taught postgraduate MSc programmes in Accounting, Accountability & Financial Management, International Management, International Marketing, Human Resource Management & Organisational Analysis, and Public Services Policy & Management, as well as an expanding MPhil/PhD programme with a cohort of over 50 PhD students. Teaching in the Department is graded above 4 out of 5 by students across all taught programmes.

INDUCTION & TRAINING
Each programme has its own induction to welcome new students. Regular training workshops are run for PhD students.

FACILITIES
Our students have access to the extensive facilities in the Franklin-Wilkins Building, where the department is based, including a multi-media laboratory and a common room dedicated for the use of graduate students. Research students have exclusive use of a newly refurbished departmental PhD room including computers, internet access and photocopying facilities.
