WHY STUDY MUSIC?
Music is a subject that trains the student in a diversity of skills that can be transferred into other areas: it is both analytical and creative, theoretical and practical, abstract and performative. It is also interdisciplinary in that it raises issues in history, aesthetics, philosophy, science and cultural studies.
WHY STUDY MUSIC AT KING'S?
As a music student at King’s you will work closely with staff who believe deeply in the central role of music in today’s culture as a creative mode of self-expression, as well as a significant form of knowledge. By encouraging the best from our students as performers, composers and thinkers, we believe we are well placed to train a rounded musician who can go on to make use of his or her expertise in a variety of professional contexts.
Students interested in composition can explore London’s rich contemporary music scene and have the opportunity to hear their own music performed in workshops by distinguished professional ensembles.
Those interested in performance receive instrumental or vocal lessons at the Royal Acadamy of Music.
