Modern Language Centre

WHY STUDY MODERN LANGUAGE CENTRE?

Speaking more than one language is becoming increasingly advantageous in today's global job market. Students of languages not only acquire valuable communication skills but also develop the attributes widely sought by employers such as critical thinking, creativity, negotiating and persuading. Language learning also boosts memory and develops your intercultural awareness. By studying a foreign language, you will prepare yourself for work or study abroad or in a multinational organisation.

WHY STUDY MODERN LANGUAGE CENTRE AT KING'S?

The Modern Language Centre is one of the oldest established language centres among the elite Russell Group of UK universities. Proven excellence in teaching is one of the key assets of the Centre, as is a willingness to engage with innovative methodology. All staff are native speakers of the language they teach, and have considerable experience and expertise in current teaching methodologies.

The Centre is a sector leader in the use of independent learning, and it has secured several grants to fund the development of new and innovative e-learning schemes, among them Arabic for Beginners and Spanish 1 for Medics.

We offer courses in 23 different languages, with a full range of levels and specialisms. All staff are qualified native speakers of the language they teach, with a long-standing experience in foreign language teaching, and have expertise in current teaching methodologies.

The Centre’s Assessed Module programme enables all undergraduate students to follow a language module, subject to departmental approval.
