The Modern Language Centre is one of the oldest established language centres among the elite Russell Group of UK universities. Proven excellence in teaching is one of the key assets of the Centre, as is a willingness to engage with innovative methodology.
We offer courses in 25 different languages, with a full range of levels and specialisms. All staff are qualified native speakers of the language they teach, with a long-standing experience in foreign language teaching, and have expertise in current teaching methodologies.
The Centre is a sector leader in the use of independent learning, and it has secured several grants to fund the development of new and innovative e-learning schemes, among them our flagship Language & Communication Skills e-learning courses freely available to all King’s College students and staff.
The Centre’s Languages for Graduates programme enables all graduate students to enrol on a language module, subject to departmental approval.
INDUCTION & TRAINING
All students on the Languages for Graduates programme are invited to a 1-hr induction in September, where they can learn more about the programme and ask questions.
Our Open Learning Centre houses a wide collection of the latest multimedia technologies and learning resources. In addition to a variety of text and grammar books, there are magazines and newspapers, CDs, DVDs, satellite television and computer based materials.
Studentships and bursaries are available through the School of Arts & Humanities website.
