Part Time

| Admissions status: Open
PURPOSE
The intention of the MA in Academic Practice in Higher Education is to create a learning environment in which participants are able to consider the theories and values that underpin higher education and further develop their abilities and knowledge to become effective professional academics able to cope with, initiate and evaluate change.

DESCRIPTION
The programme has been designed for academics with some experience of working in the HE context. For example they may have some management responsibilities, have taken on some intellectual leadership or be in a mentoring role. It aims to enhance participants’ critical understanding and use of relevant theory by supporting critical and systematic reflection on the changing nature of academic practice in higher education.

The programme is modularised to enable participants to shape the programme to their experience and development needs. Topics studied may include research methodologies and methods in higher education, management and leadership in higher education and continuing professional development. Participants will also plan and undertake work-based learning for the purposes of enhancing practice.
