PURPOSE
For medical graduates wishing to specialise in dermatology. To provide a combination of clinical skills and knowledge of the scientific basis of dermatology, and a practical training in clinical dermatology and laboratory sciences relevant to skin disease.

DESCRIPTION
The programme provides opportunities for students, including those with limited experience of dermatology, to develop and demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the full range of disease that can affect the skin. Clinical exposure is complemented by lectures, seminars and conferences by members of the faculty and invited prominent speakers.

The programme is based at the St John's Institute of Dermatology, a specialised clinical, teaching and research institute based in St Thomas' and Guy's hospitals. The Institute has its own academic facilities including lecture theatre, library, study areas and teaching laboratory. The clinical facilities are unusual in the UK as most subspecialties of dermatology, from contact dermatitis to dermatological surgery, are represented in the Institute, which therefore provides a unique environment for learning.
