I applied to King’s College London because I saw the opportunity to work with some of the leading experts in the field of Science Education. For my PhD I worked on the Enterprising Science project, which has enabled me to work as a part of a team of researchers and museum education practitioners. It is rewarding to know that my research can directly inform the development of educational approaches in science museums.

Our department is based in Waterloo, a minute away from some of my favourite cultural institutions in London, such as the National Theatre and the Royal Festival Hall. The location of Waterloo Campus is fantastic – we are surrounded by food markets, cafes and restaurants.

My PhD supervisors Louise Archer and Emily Dawson have been very helpful and supportive through my studies and I have found it really valuable to be able to work with a range of academics from my field. The Science and Technology Education Group organises frequent seminars and research group meetings where people can present and discuss their work.

There are a lot of opportunities to get involved in activities outside the programme. This year, for example, we are organising the first doctoral conference at the Department of Education and Professional Studies.
