The English Language Centre (ELC) reflects the importance the College places on the needs of the international student body. We offer International Foundation and Science Foundation Programmes that give students the academic and linguistic platform required for successful undergraduate study at King’s or other top UK universities. These programmes provide international students with clear pathways into the College and offer guaranteed conditional offers for King’s.
We combine subject, language and skills teaching in an innovative and challenging way. Our teaching staff fully understand the challenges students face when coming to the UK and have extensive experience in developing and delivering Foundation programmes. We have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and take a learner-centred approach in all programmes. Programmes are taught through a combination of lectures and seminars. Students are typically taught in small classes and each student is assigned a personal tutor who they meet on a regular basis.
The ELC is a member of BALEAP, IATEFL and AULC and is accredited by the British Council. The most recent British Council inspection awarded the Centre a total of 6 general areas of excellence, the highest score achieved across all Colleges of the University of London.
Students enjoy free access to all King’s libraries, IT facilities, the students’ union and facilities such as counselling and visa support, as well as our Open Learning Centre.
