French & Hispanic Studies with a year abroad

A French and Hispanic Studies degree in the heart of London. The Departments of French, and Spanish, Portuguese & Latin American Studies are active in all fields: language, literature and cultural history through to the present day. The year abroad is usually split between French and Spanish-speaking countries.

French

• The year abroad offers students the unique opportunity for immersion in French culture. We have exchanges with a number of partner universities in France and French speaking countries currently including Sorbonne Paris IV, Université des Antilles et de la Guyane, The University of Provence, The University of Montpellier III, Université de Montréal, The University of Cergy-Pontoise, University of Poitiers, University of Lyon, Institut d'études politiques (IEP) and the University of Geneva. The year abroad also offers students the opportunity to work as an English Language Assistant on a programme run by the British Council.

The Spanish, Portuguese & Latin American Studies Department is active in all fields of Hispanic language, literature and cultural history from the earliest times to the present day. Our particular strengths are in medieval and early modern studies, modern literature and culture (both Peninsular and Latin-American), and the modern Spanish language.

The Department of French offers the possibility of study across the whole range of French and Francophone language and literature from the Middle Ages to the present day, as well as modules in French history, contemporary French institutions, film, politics and philosophy.

The year abroad is normally split between French and Spanish-speaking countries.
