Hispanic Studies with a year abroad BA

I chose King’s because of its great international reputation and central London location. My campus is on the Strand, right next to the river, which makes for stunning views and allows you to get to most places very easily on foot or by public transport. Although it doesn’t have a traditional campus feel, there is no denying the buzz you get from being in the centre of London and being right next to the Thames, theatreland and Somerset House, which hosts London fashion week, gigs and events throughout the year and an ice rink in Winter.

The compulsory year abroad attracted me to the BA Hispanic Studies course, as I think it’s an essential part of any good language degree, and I found the choice and variety of modules relating to Spain and Latin America really appealing.

I am a Student Ambassador and Telephone Fundraiser as well as a member of All the King’s Men (the male a capella singing group) and KCL Radio where I present my own music show “Pick ‘n’ Mix”. My highlights at King’s so far have to be going on a US East Coast tour with All the King’s Men and being at the Student Radio Awards with KCL Radio when we won Best Live Event/Broadcast for our coverage of Varsity 2011!

After my degree I plan on working within the Media and Creative industries. I’m confident that the skills I’m developing within my degree will help me stand out and effectively communicate and express myself within such competitive markets. I also hope that the ability to speak Spanish and Catalan (which I’m also learning) will allow me to work internationally.
