International Foundation Programme in Humanities & Social Sciences Diploma

I joined this programme because I wanted to be surrounded by motivated students in order that I would improve and be inspired. I also wanted to enjoy my experience abroad as much as possible.

One of the things I like most about the English Language Centre is the level of support given by teachers. As an international student, we tend to need more support and supervision. That is something students will always have at King’s. King’s not only offers an outstanding academic environment, but is also an environment where students feel comfortable.

Every student wants to have the best education while enjoying his or her time as much as possible. London offers the best of both worlds. Studying at King’s is very challenging and consequently encourages students to make great progress. London offers many opportunities for students to have fun and King’s itself arranges so many events and parties that you would not be able to join every single one!

I chose the Foundation programme at King's College London because of its great reputation as well as academic excellence, and I believe it was one of the best decisions I have made in my academic life. Most importantly, the course helped me to improve my English language skills, which has given me confidence in the further studies. The cultural studies components of the course have given me an extensive insight into factors that have contributed in shaping the United Kingdom. This knowledge has helped me to understand the culture. I also studied International Relations, which helped me to develop critical thinking skills and gave the knowledge of the most relevant issues in the field.

A great advantage of this course is the chance to get familiar with the university life, having the same opportunities any other undergraduate at King's – attend public lectures, get involved in the various student clubs and societies, get to know people from all around the world as well as explore university facilities including the Maughan library and the Strand campus.

This programme is an excellent course, which helps students to get used to the university life and academic standards in the United Kingdom.

The International Foundation Programme is a fantastic stepping-stone for undergraduate study at King’s. I am currently studying for the BA in Liberal Arts and have benefitted greatly from having studied on the Programme.

Not only did I have time to explore London’s riches before fully committing myself to a BA, but the International Foundation Programme also equipped me with the necessary skills for undergraduate study.

The Foundation Degree enables you to become a full student of King’s and also take part in the numerous clubs and events organised by the student union.

One of the other great benefits of the International Foundation Programme is its location. The English Language Centre, where most of the classes are held, is situated in the lively quarter of Covent Garden. The centre is also close to all the major University of London libraries including the landmark Senate House and King’s own Maughan Library.

So when the seemingly daunting undergraduate years begin, you realize that the International Foundation Programme has already prepared you for the challenge.

Having a head start in arguably the most important years of your life is an invaluable opportunity.
