Student Visa Extensions

If you need to extend your student visa you should first contact the Student Advice and International Support Team. Student Advisers are available on every campus and can advise and assist students applying for visa extensions. Also the Student Advice and International Support Team can send your application to the UK Border Agency on your behalf using the Student Batch Scheme.
If you are advised that you need a Confirmation of Acceptance for Study (CAS) number then you can apply for one of these through the Compass either in person or through Compass Online and searching for visa extension in the “All Compass Information & Services FAQ“ section. You will need to bring your passport and proof of visa expiry date to the Compass if you come in person or have these details to hand if you complete the online application.
The CAS request is then processed by the Assessments & Records Centre who will authorise the CAS number from the UK Border Agency (UKBA) and email you both the CAS number and supporting information to assist your application. The standard turnaround time for the CAS number is five working days (a minimum of 24 hours) however we endeavour to process these requests as quickly as possible. The information will be emailed to your King’s Email address.
