Clinical audit prize presentation
The prize for the best dental clinical audit project at the Dental Institute’s Clinical Audit Half Day on 15 December was jointly won by Omar Yaqoob, from the Department of Orthodontics, for his audit on orthodontic patient referrals and Justin Barnes and Conor Durack, from the Department of Endodontics, for their audit on usage of endodontic surgeries. Both audits resulted in an improvement in patient care.The prize was presented by Petra Bellam from Dentsply and Polly Buckland from Henry Schein. The two companies each gave £300 to purchase dental equipment for the departments of the presenters of the winning audits.
Heather Pitt Ford, Associate Specialist in Paediatric Dentistry and GSTT Clinical Audit Lead for Dentistry, said: 'It was a successful meeting and all the audits presented were of a high standard, representing improvements in our service to our patients.'
The Dental Institute’s Clinical Audit Half Day takes place annually and is a quality improvement process that seeks to improve patient care and outcomes through the systematic review of care against explicit criteria and the implementation of change.
