Professor appointed senior position in European Federation
Professor Stephen M Dunne has been appointed to the post of General Secretary of the European Federation of Conservative Dentistry (EFCD). Professor Dunne is currently Head of Dental Practice and Policy and Head of the Department of Primary Care/Advanced General Dental Practice at the Dental Institute. He was appointed to the post of General Secretary of the EFCD by unanimous vote at the 8th General Assembly of the EFCD which took place on 11 March in Seville, Spain.The EFCD was formed following pursuit of Article 60 of the Swiss Civil Code and has its legal domicile in Basel, Switzerland. The prime objective of the EFCD is to contribute to the promotion of oral health in the public interest by encouraging excellence in clinical practice, teaching and research pertinent to all aspects of Conservative Dentistry. The EFCD is a non-commercial, non-profit making organization.
In his position as General Secretary, Professor Dunne will serve as secretary of the General Assembly and of the Executive Committee, and will advise the President. He will prepare official papers, deal with membership fees and dues, make annual reports and serve as the Executive Head of the Central Office. In addition, Professor Dunne will be responsible for coordinating the activities of all Committees, Councils, Administrative Boards and other EFCD component groups, amongst many other responsibilities.
