The newly opened clinical training facility at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh
The Dental Faculty of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh has recently opened state-of-the-art clinical training facilities offering unique links to supporting development of health personnel, both in the Scotland and internationally, and the recent development of integrated accommodation means the College is ideally suited for education and training.

Professor McDonald was previously a Regional Adviser for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, assisting in dissemination of information related to the College’s activities. The College, like all health care related bodies, assists in the development of standards to support graduate dental education.

Honoured to be elected a seat on the Board, Professor McDonald said, ‘I am looking forward to the challenges this post will provide and working with colleagues who, by reputation and past history, are able to work coherently to support the profession. It is a significant responsibility to repay the trust placed in me by being elected.’

The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh has strong links with many existing and previous members of staff at King’s, notably Professor Nairn Wilson, Professor James McDonald, Professor Jonathan Sandy and Professor Murray Meikle. It is the oldest royal surgical college and lays claim to a member of the monarchy, James IV of Scotland, providing some of the first dental procedures undertaken for a fee and granting the College a Royal charter in 1506.
