Institute teacher is finalist for award
Dr George Aristidou, a part-time clinical teacher at the Dental Institute, has been selected as one of two finalists for the Dentist Teacher of the Year Award at the Dental Defence Union (the DDU) 2009 Educational Awards.Over the past few months, the DDU has asked dental students from each dental school in the UK to nominate the teacher who they believe to be the most outstanding dental educator. Nominees were shortlisted and supporting evidence was sought from the respective school deans/directors to enable the DDU judging panel to select finalists.
Commenting on being selected as a finalist for the award, Dr Aristidou said, ‘As a part-time clinical teacher I am naturally delighted and honoured to have been nominated and selected as a finalist for the DDU Dentist Teacher of the Year award.’

Both finalists will be awarded a cheque for £250 and a certificate of congratulations. The winner will be awarded an additional prize of a cheque for £1000 for their school to use towards educational materials.
The award is provided in association with Dentsply Ltd and supported by the British Dental Association.
