Dental Institute celebrate 10 years of achievements
A dinner to celebrate the achievements of the first 10 years of the Dental Institute since the merger of UMDS and King’s College London was held at the House of Commons on 8 January. Hosted by Sir Paul Beresford MP and Professor Nairn Wilson, Dean and Head of the Dental Institute, the evening ‘celebrated the past and looked to the future’, highlighting the Institute’s strengths in the areas of service provision, research and teaching, and its aspirations to build on these in the future.The evening began with a tour of the House of Commons and a reception in the Terrace Pavilion, followed by dinner in the Churchill Dinning Room, preceded by some introductory remarks by Sir Paul Beresford. The dinner provided an opportunity for key members of staff from the Institute to discuss forthcoming projects and aspirations and thank donors for their support.
During the dinner, Professor Rick Trainor, Principal of King’s College London, Professor Nairn Wilson, Dean and Head of the Dental Institute and Professor Stephen Challacombe Vice Dean of the Dental Institute, spoke on the past, present and future of the Institute. 76 guests and 19 members of staff attended the event.
