100% examination pass rate success

Dental x-ray Candidates who recently attended the Certificate in Dental Radiography course held at the Dental Nurse Education & Training Centre (DNETC) at King's College Hospital - a rapidly growing and innovative element of the King’s College London Dental Institute - were once again successful in achieving 100% examination pass rate for the fourth time in succession. The result was 23% above the national average pass rate.
The Certificate in Dental Radiography is suitable for all General Dental Council registered Dental Care Professionals (DCP) required to x-ray patients under the prescription of a dentist. The need for this arose from the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2000 legislation, which describes the role of the operator. Under this act, the DCP can act as operator after being appropriately trained, this qualification is suitable training.

To achieve this qualification, candidates had to competently take 50 assorted x-rays under the prescription and supervision of the Dentist, compile three 1,000 word detailed case studies and pass a negatively marked multiple choice examination.

Jillian Eastmond, course coordinator and Continuing Professional Development Training Manager for the DNETC commented: ‘I am extremely proud of the reputation held by the DNETC and especially so of the candidates who all worked so hard to gain this outstanding result.'
