Dr Nathwani highly commended for award
Dr Neil Nathwani, a Specialist Prosthodontic Trainee on the MClinDent in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics programme at the Dental Institute, has been Highly Commended and received 2nd prize for The Best Young Dentist Award (London) for The Dentistry Awards 2009.Now in its fourth year, these regional awards launched by Dentistry magazine, have been created to recognise outstanding individuals, teams and practices who have an active interest in continuing professional development and staying at the top of the dental profession.
Dr Nathwani, who qualified from King’s College London Dental Institute in 2006, currently works in practice and is in his second year of training to become a prosthodontic specialist. He was nominated for the award by his practice principle for his outstanding achievements. During his final year as an undergraduate student, Dr Nathwani received two awards - the Newland Pedley Medal and Prize for Operative Dentistry and Certificate of Merit for the Saunders Scholarship. He received exceptional results as a Vocational Dental Practitioner and his determination with continued training has led him to be one of the youngest dentists to enter specialist training in prosthodontics.
The judging panel consisted of top members of the profession, including dentists, hygienists and practice managers. The individuals were selected with the help of achievements and testimonials and the winners were announced at The Dentistry Awards Ceremony in Leicester on 4 December 2009. The prestigious event attracted more than 600 people from the UK dental world, making it the largest annual dentistry event on the dental calendar.
Commenting on his success, Dr Nathwani says: ‘Receiving this award makes me feel that my hard work is being recognised and I am extremely honoured. I attribute my success to the wonderful teaching staff at King’s College London Dental Institute, who continue to train and mould me to the dentist I am today.
I am very grateful for many inspiring and outstanding role models, who have encouraged me to continue to study with the MClinDent in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics programme at the Dental Institute, as well as strive to compete in practice. I feel that the MclinDent programme in prosthodontics will undoubtably make me a better dentist for my future years in the dental world.’
