MSc Aesthetic Dentistry prize winners go to Belgium

In March 2010, the Unit of Distance Learning at King’s College London was delighted to announce Kimberley Taylor and Bobbie Kovacs as the prize winners from the GC/LonDEC award for aesthetics.

Each year GC-UK generously provides a prize for the best aesthetic composite restoration on the MSc Aesthetic Dentistry degree programme. The restorations are placed during the first year’s face to face teaching programme, a key component of the otherwise blended learning programme. This year’s winners were selected from the 48 students who attended the two face to face training courses held at LonDEC. The prizes were a free place, including travel and expenses, on the GC Module 2 training course held in Leuvan, Belgium which Kimberley and Bobbie have recently attended. This hands-on training module covers the advanced aesthetics which can be created by: Gradia, a well proven material researched at King’s, G-aenial the new aesthetic derivative, and Kalore the new low shrinkage, high strength composite featuring the unique DuPont resin technology.

We are very grateful for GC-UK's support of the MSc Aesthetic Dentistry programme at KCL and this generous gesture towards our 2 student prize winners. This continues the close link between Kings and GC, where the forerunner to Gradia was first tested and developed 25 years ago. This bis-GMA free resin composite has since become regarded as a leading material in the pursuit of high strength, highly aesthetic materials.
