How We Work

Signing the Declaration on Child Oral Health In order for countries to achieve these ambitious targets, they need to refocus their national agendas on children's oral health and therefore either refine or redefine the provision and funding mechanisms of dental services.

One of the GCDHT's primary objectives is to enlist the influencial support of senior dental government officials and leading dental practitioners (in 13 countries at present) in order to establish an international network of National Taskforces. These senior officers are in sum, what constitutes the national Taskforces. Once this phase is completed, the Global Taskforce will act as a central body. It will provide ongoing support (including training programmes) and be ideally positioned to share best practice and shape the future of dentistry.

We have established Taskforces in 13 countries namely, Australia, Brazil, Cambodia, China, Colombia, India, Malaysia, Mexico, Philippines, South Africa, Thailand, USA and Venezuela. 3 more countries will be joining in 2009/10 (East-Africa, Laos and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia). The project therefore draws on experience, knowledge and expertise from all major continents. Its richness rests on the broad political, economic and cultural diversity it is able to draw from, as it combines both less and more developed nations. Each of which, is able to contribute and benefit from the project. It is worth noting, that countries with some of the worlds largest child populations are a part of this movement.
