We are a department committed to being at the forefront of research into Byzantium and Modern Greece, and to incorporating the fruits of that research into our teaching, in particular at graduate level. We offer opportunities for graduate study at the different levels shown below.

Graduate Diploma in Late Antique and Byzantine Studies
This Diploma can be studied as a one year full-time or two years part-time programme.
MA Late Antique and Byzantine Studies
This taught Master's programme can be studied over one year full-time or two years part-time.
Students considering either of the Byzantine programmes, or research in Byzantine Studies may also be interested in the new Intensive Summer Courses in ancient languages which will be offered for the first time in 2010; for further details see the webpages for the Ancient Greek course, and the Latin course

MA Modern Greek Studies
This taught Masters programme can be studied over one year full-time or two years part-time. There is the opportunity to follow this degree as an interdisciplinary programme or with specialisms in:
Research degrees
This programme can be followed for three years full-time or six years part-time study. Study at MPhil or PhD level in possible in any field of Byzantine or Modern Greek Studies, subject to a research proposal being approved by the Department.
