Genre Fiction Reading Group

6-8pm Alternate Mondays, Room S2.39

Let's Enhance logo Let’s Enhance, the Genre Fiction Reading Group, meets to discuss the issues raised by genre fiction in society. Beginning with the work of Edgar Allan Poe and going up to the popular tales still hitting shelves and screens today, it proposes to consider the relationships between genre and audience; the role of genre in the construction of mass consciousness; how fiction is altered by changes in transmission; and the academic situation of these discussions.

The seminar’s other stated aim is to introduce extremely entertaining stories as a way into discussing these ideas, providing researchers and any other generally interested parties with an introduction to some very enjoyable writing. Doritos and Coke will be provided, all are very welcome.

Convenors: Sarah Crofton and Will Tattersdill

This group is funded by KCL’s Open Competition.
