Undergraduate Staff-Student Committee

The Staff-Student Committee is designed to facilitate communication between staff and students. Students can raise issues from most of the areas which affect their time in the department including; academic, social, administrative etc.

Undergraduate Staff-Student Committee members 2011-12

Items for the Agenda should be submitted to the Chair of the Committee or to any of the student members one week before the meeting. Elections to this Committee are held annually. Students should consult the Department’s website and the Noticeboard for information.

The Committee’s functions

  • To serve as a formal interface between staff and students;
  • To address comments, queries, suggestions, concerns, etc from undergraduates;
  • To discuss these in a forum where there is a balance of student and staff opinions;
  • To facilitate communication with the whole student body on these matters;
  • To bring matters to the attention of the department, and to request action if necessary;
  • To send 3 student representatives, one from each year, to department staff meetings, held monthly.
  • To send 2 student representatives to department Teaching Committee meetings, held 5 times a year.
  • To nominate 1 student representative to the School of Arts and Humanities Teaching & Learning Committee.
  •  To nominate 1 student representative to the School of Arts and Humanities Education committee
  • To provide 1 student representative to the Student Union.
