Undergraduate Staff-Student Committee
The Staff-Student Committee is designed to facilitate communication between staff and students. Students can raise issues from most of the areas which affect their time in the department including; academic, social, administrative etc.
Undergraduate Staff-Student Committee members 2011-12
- Staff: Pat Palmer (Chair); Jo McDonagh
- 1st year: Maddison Andrews, Matthew Simmons, Charlotte Wildblood
- 2nd year: Arooj Rashid
- Final year: Brian Kwok, Shakti Bhagchandani, Jess Broadbent, Emma Bennett
- 4th year American Studies: Sheena Robinson
- Study Abroad: Louisa Jacquinto
The Committee’s functions
- To serve as a formal interface between staff and students;
- To address comments, queries, suggestions, concerns, etc from undergraduates;
- To discuss these in a forum where there is a balance of student and staff opinions;
- To facilitate communication with the whole student body on these matters;
- To bring matters to the attention of the department, and to request action if necessary;
- To send 3 student representatives, one from each year, to department staff meetings, held monthly.
- To send 2 student representatives to department Teaching Committee meetings, held 5 times a year.
- To nominate 1 student representative to the School of Arts and Humanities Teaching & Learning Committee.
- To nominate 1 student representative to the School of Arts and Humanities Education committee
- To provide 1 student representative to the Student Union.
