This year provides a general introduction to the study of modern Europe. The focus is primarily historical, with a compulsory module on Europe from 1793 to 1991offered alongside introductory courses on Economics, Politics, Law, and War Studies.
Modules on France, Spain and Germany follow a similar pattern with the emphasis being on the historical background to contemporary Europe and the intellectual and political currents which shaped and reflected it.

In your first year you take an overall of 120 credits, 60 in relation to Europe and 60 in relation to your pathway country.
