Emily Butterworth was awarded LCACE (London Centre for Arts and Cultural Exchange) funding for a collaborative project with artist Clare Qualmann, in association with The Women’s Library, called 'Spinning Stories'.The project explores the places people chat, tell stories, exchange tips and share news – and laundry, and the East End launderette as a disappearing place of gossip. This draws on Emily's research into gossip and story-telling in the early modern period and Clare's practice of site-specific walks and performances.
