The National Student Survey (NSS) is an annual survey of undergraduates across the UK. It is commissioned by the Higher Education Funding Council for England and is conducted by an independent body, Ipsos-Mori.
The Survey consists of 23 questions grouped into a number of categories with space at the end for free text comments. All responses are anonymised.

What the class of 2011 said
Overall, the class of 2011 were pleased with their experience.

However, students did suggest that there was scope for improvement in some areas.
- Administration of School and College
- Personal tutor scheme/pastoral support
- Student:staff ratio too high/contact time
- Assessment and feedback
- Communication
- Law building
What we’ve done since then
- The move to Somerset House is complete! In January 2012 all staff moved to Somerset House and students will benefit from brand new social space, plus much improved study areas.
- With regard to administration the College is conducting a wholesale review of administrative structures with a view to implementing changes during the 2012 academic session. The review will touch on all areas of administration from communication with students to management of records and assessment processes. In addition the School administration has been working hard to ensure that messages delivered to students are timely and relevant.
- The personal tutor scheme has been rationalised to ensure consistency of pastoral support for the duration of students’ time at King’s. Where staff are due to be absent from personal tutor duties due to sabbatical or other leave then students are allocated to an interim tutor who is there to help in the same way as a permanent tutor.
- All students are entitled to feedback on their assessed work and so the School has reinforced to staff that it is their responsibility to be on hand to provide feedback. Permanent academic staff are required to advertise office hours during which they can be visited.
